DESIGN SOLUTION
A mobile app that helps new residents in Cincinnati feel a sense of belonging by seamlessly connecting them to local landmarks and events.
KEY FEATURES
Using location-based notifications, the app recommends cultural, historical, and hidden gems in real time, encouraging spontaneous exploration. With customizable preferences, a video-centric explore page, and user-generated insights, it creates a personalized and engaging way to discover the city.
PERSONAS
Based on likeliness of use, I've narrowed down the primary scope of demographic to "new residents."
New residents are more likely to require assimilation into Cincinnati (compared to long-time residents), and are also more likely to download a Cincinnati-specific app (compared to visitors).
TASK FLOWS
The app's purpose has always been to inspire spontaneous exploration, which made an exploration task flow essential from the start. Initially, I wasn't certain whether onboarding was necessary, but user insights revealed that an onboarding flow designed as a "teaser trailer" of Cincinnati added intrigue and helped spark curiosity for new users.
This was the point where I decided to make CincySights distinctly video-centric, carrying that approach from the onboarding experience through to exploration.
CincySights is a practical way to incorporate event and landmark exploration into your daily life, without having to actively plan for it.
